Tutorials this week
Tutorials this week will focus on the “Black Death”. It is your last week of tutorial!
Readings (all available in Worlds of History):
- Gabriele de Mussis, “Origins of the Black Death” (Chapter 12, Reading 2)
- “Causes According to the College of Physicians, Paris” (Chapter 12, Reading 4)
- “Images of the Black Death” (Chapter 12, Reading 5)
- Ahmad al-Maqrizi, “The Plague in Cairo” (Chapter 12, Reading 6)
Questions to think about:
- What types of explanations did people in Europe and North Africa have for the Black Death? What aspects of their societies influenced those explanations?
- How do the images from Reading 5 add to our understanding of the Black Death and its impact in Europe? What can they tell us about the events surrounding it?
